Status: No national drinking water standard exists

 

Formaldehyde is found in particle board, plastics, textiles, glues and other consumer products. Formaldehyde in drinking water can form as a byproduct of ozonation. Formaldehyde irritates the eyes, nose, throat and skin; long-term exposure can cause cancer.
